Miss England gives up her crown
The beauty pageant winner of England otherwise known as Miss England, has given up her title on Friday after reports she had been involved in a nightclub fight with another beauty queen. Rachel Christie, the niece of former British Olympic gold medal sprinter Linford Christie, was arrested earlier this week after getting into a fight with Miss Manchester, Sara Jones, at a club in the northern English city, as reported by the English press. Christie, who was the first African-American winner of the title in July, was accused of punching Jones many time over her boyfriend who is on the TV show "Gladiators,” said the papers. "Due to the attention from the media following the allegations against her, Rachel Christie has now decided to quit the Miss World competition and relinquish her Miss England crown," the pageant organizers said in a statement on the Miss England website."Rachel will concentrate on clearing her name and focus on training more for the 2012 Olympics until this case is finally resolved." She wants to win a gold metal in the heptathlon.

Assault with a Vodka Bottle
Detroit Police said a wife threatened her husband with a large knife after he had thrown away her vodka while she was sleeping. Clawson police Lt. Scott Sarvello told The Daily Tribune of Royal Oak the man returned home from work on a Sunday night to find his wife sleeping with a bottle of vodka. He threw away the bottle of vodka. Sarvello said the thirty four year old woman woke up, and argued with her husband, and went back to sleep, then got up yet again and grabbed the 7-inch knife from the kitchen to force him to get her vodka or give her the car keys. Police said the man held her at a bay with a chair while he called 911. She was taken to jail and had a blood-alcohol level of 0.23 percent, which is well above the legal alcohol level. She was arraigned Tuesday on a felony charge of assault with a dangerous weapon.

Inappropriate hugging
In Adelaide, Australia, an elementary school has banned hugging and other displays of affection between pre-teen girls and boys. The reason behind this was to set a good example for the younger students. The children of Largs Bay Primary school in the southern city of Adelaide were spoken to about this inappropriate behavior. 6th and 7th grade students who are seen as role models by our younger students set strong standard behaviors, principal Julie Gale sent in an e-mail referring to the 11-13 year old students. She said hugging between friends wasn't band, but they do not allow displays of affection.Steve Portlock of the South Australia Primary Principals Association said "One of the things that is most important for these schools to do is to talk to their students about what's appropriate and what's not appropriate, whether it is about language or the things they wear and certainly in this case about the way boys and girls interact, especially when it comes to the stage of being boyfriends and girlfriends."
